Who We Are
Commercial Plastics is a wholesale manufacturer of custom vacuum formed sign faces and exterior sign cabinets designed to be hung by way of pole or wall mounted. We only sell directly to other sign companies. Our customer base spans from coast to coast, while the majority of our sales are based in the central United States.
Established in 1968 by Clarence Franks, it was his son Bob that was the driving force in making the small company with around 15 total employees the thriving business it is today. Bob was running all aspects of the company by his early twenties in the late 70’s, and had taken over complete ownership by the early 80’s when his father retired. In 1987, Bob moved the company from Springfield, Mo to a 7 acre piece of land in Republic, Mo. He designed and built our current facility and has expanded it over the years to more than 27,000 sq ft.
Bob Franks
Bob Franks was a self taught and self made man who prided himself in being well versed in all areas of his business. His unlimited knowledge, as well as an unmatched work ethic, made him the leader that he was. Bob was proficient in the designing and engineering of signs, he was a master at fabrication in all areas of the shop. He was able to train the quality staff, many of which are still employed, and have the experience and knowledge of over 250 years combined. Bob relied on his employees and they relied on him. Loyalty goes both ways at Commercial Plastics. From the office, to sign production, sign frame fabrication, painting, to shipping and deliveries. All areas are covered by people knowledgeable in their areas of expertise and willing to do their best to make the best signs possible for their customers.
Commercial Plastics has now spanned three generations of being family owned and operated. After Bob’s unfortunate passing in February of 2023, his son Joshua has stepped into his Father’s role, and is striving to keep the business moving forward the way he watched his dad grow it. Josh, also, has spent his life working and learning the business, and his goal is to maintain, as well as grow a sign company that has been serving the sign industry since 1968. We have high expectations; customer satisfaction is our number one priority. Being one of the leaders in our area of the sign business for this many years we think we have proven that we are one of the standard bearers in the industry and are looking forward to where the future takes us.
